How to remove a malicious virus file named terms.exe

File by the name terms.exe is created by a computer virus program that affects the computers running on the Microsoft windows operating systems. It's analysis report is given below.

C:\windows\terms.exe

(You can also find file size, md5, sha-1 info on the above link)  

This virus created a malicious service with a randomly generated name. The service is also made active. You will need to disable this service before you could delete the virus file. Please see the above link for details. 

There may be more files created by this virus program. You can find them out. First locate and note down the "date of creation" of terms.exe, and after that, search the hard disk for other files created on that date or onward. See image

Necessary steps required to remove this virus program

  • To undo the changes made by the virus using available free tools 
  • To remove processes created by the virus program from the Task Manager
  • To search and delete files created by the virus program from the hard disk. Enable to view "hidden files and folders" before you search. Otherwise files created by the virus program inside the hidden folders will not be found
  • To remove obsolete registry keys using CCleaner

    How to find and remove malicious look-alikes of winsta.dll (Microsoft WinStation Library) 

    There is a legitimate file named winsta.dll (Microsoft WinStation Library) in MS Windows. It's default location seems to be the %System% folder that is
    C:\Windows\System32
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64

    There seem to be virus programs that are creating files with the same name in other folders.  One of the analysis reports is given below.
